Threads: A New Variation in Orange

After making several necklaces that involved knotting fabric between beads or wrapping the fabric with thread between beads, I decided to experiment in a new direction.

I have a box of old beaded jewelry my grandmother was getting rid of several years ago, and I decided finally to put some of it to use. There were two necklaces with these great black wooden clasps.

Wooden Clasp

I cut thin strips of light orange silk crepe and rolled them (tucking in all edges) and hand stitched them using an invisible stitch. I then knotted the ends and attached them to the wooden clasps with a heavy-duty invisible thread.

The end result is pretty bold – a bit of a statement piece, so it goes well with a simple outfit with solid colors.
